Ultimate Frisbee

Students will join a local Ultimate Frisbee legend as he teaches the fundamentals of throwing, marking, and playing. One of the coaches for Ultimate is also currently a captain for the UCLA's women's ultimate team.  This will be a great opportunity for both boys and girls to be coached by a player on one of the top college teams in the country. Each day you will practice these techniques and learn various strategies during scrimmages. Get a great workout and have fun at the same time as Ultimate Frisbee returns!!! Participants will also receive their own frisbee.

It is the prerequisite for both Coding for Animation & Video Games and Video Game Coding Lab. The instructor, Richard Brous, has a CS degree from LMU and is an Animation (DreamWorks) and Video Game (Electronic Arts) professional. This class focuses on the fundamentals of 2d computer graphics & animation, finishing with the creation of a simple game. The continued practice of yoga has been proven to lead to a sense of peace and well-being, and also a feeling of being at one with the environment. Participants will have fun gently stretching muscles and joints and bending and balancing in ways never thought humanly possible. You will feel like a new person after this class!

PEP is partnering with Santa Monica Dragons to offer Preseason Lacrosse. Learn to pass and catch with your strong hand and off hand, as well as ground balls and shooting. The class is designed for boys and girls at all skill levels - advanced players are welcome too! This is the perfect way to prepare yourself for the competitive season of Lacrosse during Session #3.

Beginning Guitar

If you’ve always wanted to learn guitar, this is a good way to being! Mastering the classical technique will be applicable to any style of music that you may be interested in learning. Playing with your fingers vs. playing with a pick will give you versatility and creative possibilities. You will learn the different parts of the guitar, tuning techniques, how to read music, left and right hand technique, and study scales, chords, and arpeggios. You will need a serviceable guitar, preferably nylon string, purchase guitar books, and a folder for handouts.

Rehearsals will be from 2:15pm - 5:15pm. Final Performances are scheduled for March 16th, 17th, and 18th. Interested students (and parents) must attend an informational meeting on 11/9 in the auditorium at 5pm. Auditions will be on 11/7 and 11/9, Callbacks will be 11/14.

 
Reminder
In order to ensure the safety of all students... please pick up students in the PE area.  Please drive up the west driveway and park near the gym, in the bus area (by the transportation office).  After child is picked up, please proceed up the west driveway to Sunset Blvd.

Enrollment is on a first come- first serve basis. Register your child early to guarantee a space.

Costs include a $25 non-refundable registration fee.  All requests for refunds must be submitted prior to the start of the second week of the session.
 
Student Eligibility Requirements:
1) Good citizenship and behavior are expected at all times, especially when dealing with coaches, instructors, and volunteers.  Poor citizenship/sportsmanship displayed by student and/or parent/guardian will result in student suspension/removal from the P.E.P. program without refund.
2) Students must maintain satisfactory academic marks (min. 2.0 gpa), work habits and cooperation to participate.
3) PEP has the right to remove students at any time due to safety concerns or behavior issues.
4) Completed forms (registration, financial aid) and payment must be received before student can participate.
5) Participants must show up to practices and classes regularly and on time.
6) All Financial Aid requests must be submitted prior to the first day of the session. Due to budgetary planning, all Financial Aid requests turned in on or after the first day of the session will not be accepted or processed.
7) All requests for refunds must be submitted prior to the start of the second week of the session.
8) Outdoor activities will be cancelled in the event of inclement weather.
9) There are no make up days for missed classes/activities.
10) Enrollment is on a first come- first serve basis. Register your child early to guarantee a space.
